The best of Disney+ Day: Moon Knight & She-Hulk first looks, Obi-Wan, X-Men, Predator and more

Exclusive: First Look at Stuff

The second annual Disney+ Day has arrived, and the Mouse House wasted no time Friday morning dropping several announcements, reveals, first looks and just general reminders of all the stuff the studio has coming down the pipe over the next year or so.

But in case you weren’t glued to the live-tweet-palooza on Disney+’s social media platforms all day, we’ve put together a quick rundown of the major highlights ranging from Star Wars, Marvel and general Disney fare that we’ll be bingeing for years to come.

Marvel’s big Disney+ sizzle reel

Marvel Studios already announced a massive slate of shows over the past year, and is understandably very busy actually making all those shows right now. Disney+ Day didn’t bring us any big, surprise Marvel trailers — but we did get a lengthy sizzle reel catching up on the previous Marvel shows we’ve already seen, and the next few on the way later this year and throughout 2022.

The big stuff? We get a first look at the extremely dark, Daredevil-y looking Moon Knight series starring Oscar Issac; a bit of She-Hulk footage starring Tatiana Maslany and fan favorite Mark Ruffalo’s Professor Hulk; and a few snippets of Ms. Marvel starring newcomer Iman Vellani. We also get an incredibly brief look at Samuel L. Jackson back in the Secret Invasion series.

The sizzle reel is only available to watch on Disney+ for platform subscribers.

Predator heading to the past

Disney+ also brought a bit of Hulu news, as the Mouse House confirmed a new prequel film set in the Predator universe is coming to its sister streaming service. Director Dan Trachtenberg is putting together the film Prey for Hulu, which is set 300 years ago.

The main protagonist is Naru (played by Legion's Amber Midthunder), a member of the Comanche Nation who wants to prove her worth as a skilled and deadly warrior. She gets her chance — and then some — when «a highly evolved alien predator» attacks the tribe.

No word on a release date for Prey just yet.

X-Men: The Animated Series returns

The classic X-Men: The Animated Series turned an entire generation of kids into Marvel fans back in the 1990s, and now Disney+ is taking us back to that universe for a whole new run of adventures in X-Men '97. The new show looks to presumably pick up where the old show left off, bringing back those versions of these characters and seeing where all those dangling stories might’ve gone all these years later.

X-Men '97 is slated to start streaming in 2023.

Obi-Wan is back, he just didn’t bring a trailer

Fans spent the days and weeks heading into Disney+ Day theorizing about a potential trailer for the eagerly anticipated Star Wars series starring Ewan McGregor, which picks up a decade after Revenge of the Sith and also brings Hayden Christensen back as Darth Vader. Sadly, we didn’t get a trailer, but Disney did reveal a teaser featurette with a few interview snippets and some concept art. But no footage, at least not yet.

The featurette is only available to watch on Disney+.

Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney+ in 2022.

Spiderwick Chronicles becoming a TV series

The beloved 2003 book series Spiderwick Chronicles from co-creators Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi is coming to Disney+ as a new live action series.

The story follows the adventures of the Grace family — specifically twin brothers Jared and Simon, and their older sister Mallory — as they move into their great uncle's home, Spiderwick Estate.

Almost immediately, the Grace kids stumble upon secret rooms in the house, including a hidden library that points to more secrets in and around the estate. Eventually they uncover an entire secret world of fairy creatures they never knew existed, launching them into a series of adventures that proved extremely popular among young readers.

Lots of other random things!

Though Disney+ was a bit light on big surprises, it did include a ton of smaller project reveals, updates and first looks.
