Emmys 2019 winners: the complete list
Phoebe Waller-Bridge accepts the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series award for ‘Fleabag’ Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images
On Sunday night, the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best television series and performances of the past year. And, when the dust settled after a somewhat unpredictable edition of the annual awards show, we were left with a few surprises in the winners’ circle.
The biggest story of the night was that Game of Thrones failed to break its own Emmy record for the most trophies awarded to a single season of a TV show.
After winning 10 awards for its final season at the Creative Arts Emmys, Game of Thrones needed just three more to bring its total number of wins to 13 and break its own record of 12. Going into the evening, that outcome seemed totally possible, as the show had multiple nominations across all seven drama categories.
But in the end, it took home only two trophies — Supporting Actor in a Drama for Peter Dinklage, and Outstanding Drama Series — meaning it merely tied its earlier record without beating it.
On the comedy side of the awards, the night belonged to Fleabag.
The show won Outstanding Comedy Series, and Fleabag star and creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Writing for a Comedy Series.
Waller-Bridge’s and Fleabag’s success meant that Veep, back in contention for its final season after sitting out the 2018 Emmys while star Julia Louis-Dreyfus was treated for cancer, was shut out.
Meanwhile, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which took home the major comedy awards last year in Veep’s absence, claimed wins in both supporting acting categories: Tony Shalhoub won Supporting Actor in a Comedy, and Alex Borstein won Supporting Actress in a Comedy.
Here’s the complete list of the 2019 Emmy winners:

Emmy Winners 2019: See the Full List Here
The 2019 Emmy Awards may be airing on Fox, but once again it was a big night for cable and streaming. HBO’s Game of Thrones, as expected, won its final best drama series Emmy award, in addition to another acting trophy for star Peter Dinklage. And not only did Amazon win more statues for last year’s big comedy winner The Marvelous Mrs.
Maisel, but British import Fleabag won the top comedy prize, beating out expected favorite Veep in its final season.
And there were surprises up and down every category, from Ozark’s Julia Garner beating a crew of Game of Thrones actresses for a supporting actress in a drama trophy to Netflix’s When They See Us winning a single prize, for breakout star Jharrel Jerome.
Vanity Fair covered the Emmys 2019 from inside the auditorium and all over the internet— you can check out all the looks from the red carpet as well as our picks for the best-dressed, and read dispatches from inside the show as well as analysis of the night’s biggest wins. But if you’re here, you just want the facts. Below, each category’s nominees, with the winners indicated in bold.
